Forest School & outdoor learning environments
Our preschool garden has many exciting experiences on offer, such as a mud kitchen, bug hotels, planting area with fruits, vegetables and flowers, a construction area with real tools, sand and water, and a cosy teepee. These resources offer outstanding experiences and allow children to actively learn and develop their play. This garden also leads onto the playing field which is often used to extend on experiences in nature too. All children are given daily opportunities to play outside every day, no matter the weather!
our Under 2's Garden. We ensure this environment is enabling for our youngest of children. To develop on our vision and ethos, we support children to grow their own flowers and plants, supporting them to care and look after them. We also have a large sand pit for our children to climb inside and explore the sand between their toes. Stories can be explored inside our cosy den too!
Daily Forest School Sessions with Qualified Leaders
We are proud to have two qualified Level 3 Forest School Leaders on our team, enabling us to offer enriching daily forest sessions within our beautiful local environments. These sessions are an integral part of our setting and are thoughtfully designed to support each child’s holistic development.
Spending time outdoors every day offers numerous benefits for young children, including rich sensory stimulation, natural vitamin D production, physical growth, emotional well-being, improved sleep patterns, a stronger immune system, and enhanced social interaction. Our forest experiences inspire curiosity, resilience, and a deep connection with the natural world, laying the foundation for lifelong learning and well-being.
“Skilled staff understand the importance of allowing children time to explore and
discover, and their interactions are subtle and meaningful. Children are able to take safe risk and problem solve for themselves. For example, in forest school, children decide to make a wooden car. They are guided and supervised extremely well as they saw twigs and hammer nails, understanding the importance of how to use tools safely.”
